Nov Dec Jan Feb March April Research: Two months Pre production: One month Shooting: One month Post-production and documentation review: Two months STEPS: (The documentation of this exercise is something which is ongoing throughout the project.) 1. Research on what FLOSS tools are available for video production, reviews and evaluations (if they exist) 2. Select a few tools that seem most appropriate 3. Figure out what hardware/computing resources are necessary for the use of these tools 4. Speak to film-makers/editors/practitioners about what they look for from software, what software they currently use 5. Contact staff from at least one Mass Communication course to check out what software they introduce students to. 6. Experiment with the FLOSS tools available, and, if possible, some of the proprietary software, to be able to compare them 7. Prepare for production, shoot some footage 8. Edit the footage using FLOSS tools 9. Review the process of editing, and incorporate it into the documentation 10. Take editors' feedback 11. Complete the documentation, identifying strengths and areas for improvement
